The Discover 150 used a 144.8 cc single-cylinder engine with Bajaj’s DTS-i technology. Depending on the source and variant, the bike was reported to produce around 12.8 bhp to 14.3 bhp and 12.75 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

For a commuter motorcycle, those figures were respectable. Bajaj claimed a top speed of 110 kph and fuel efficiency of 72 kpl for the Discover 150 twins, while BikeDekho lists an ARAI mileage figure of 65 kmpl for the Discover 150 F.

Design And Ride Feel

The Discover 150 family carried the familiar Discover design language, but the 150F and 150S gave buyers two different visual choices.

The 150F came with a half-fairing style that made it look a bit more sporty, while the 150S was a simpler naked version.

Team-BHP noted that both bikes shared the same 144.8 cc engine and were introduced as part of Bajaj’s effort to widen the Discover range. The bike’s overall design was not flashy, but it was neat and purposeful.

The seat, tank area, and side panels were shaped to suit daily commuting, and the riding position was built for comfort rather than aggressive handling. That made the Discover 150 easy to live with in crowded Indian traffic.

Features And Practicality

Bajaj kept the Discover 150 practical by giving it features that mattered to everyday riders. The bike came with electric start, a 5-speed gearbox, and on some versions, front disc braking and CBS support.

BikeDekho lists the Discover 150 F with a disc brake at the front, drum at the rear, and a 10-litre fuel tank. Its lightweight commuter nature was one of its biggest strengths.

The bike was easy to manage in the city, simple to maintain, and economical enough to appeal to price-conscious buyers. That combination made it a sensible choice for people upgrading from smaller displacement bikes.

Market Response

Even though the Discover 150 had a strong value proposition, it faced a tough market. Indian two-wheeler buyers often compare 150cc bikes not only on mileage and price, but also on brand image, style, and resale value.

The Discover name was respected, yet the motorcycle struggled to build the kind of excitement needed in a crowded segment.

Reports also suggested that the Discover 150F and 150S did not achieve the sales success Bajaj had hoped for.

A 2017 report said the models were likely to be discontinued because their sales were not matching customer expectations, even though the mileage and engine package were competitive.

The Discover 150 remains important because it shows how Indian motorcycle companies tried to define the commuter-plus segment.

Bajaj wanted to give riders something practical, efficient, and slightly aspirational without pushing the price too high. That formula worked for a while and helped the Discover brand become a familiar name on Indian roads.

Today, the Discover 150 is remembered more as a practical chapter in Bajaj’s commuter history than as a current model.
